A TASTE OF WAIKIKI

The BRIEF

Located at the ground floor of the Waikiki market Piko Kitchen + Bar celebrates the history of Waikiki’s lively beachfront and wetlands. The restaurant reimagines the legacy of Waikiki’s waterfront. The program recognizes not only the bounty of the makai’s wetlands but also the ocean centric food found throughout history.

The Approach

Taking cues from Waikiki’s history (while applying a modern lens) Piko is a kinetic izakaya built for spirited guests and locals. Design element reimagine the century old fishponds that hold a special place in Waikiki.  From the stoic rock walls to the delicate plating of Olonā, the design elements are carefully interwoven celebrating Waikiki’s ancient history.
